This being Thanksgiving season (yes, I know we thank God in all things and each day), and being very aware of those who have no homes or families nearby or at all and being in need, I was called to this scripture by the Spirit of God. I have been meditating on it and wanted to share it with those who are interested. I know we have all read this scripture and heard it many times, but today, it seems I got a new and deeper view of these promises of God to us, if we live in obedience in the area of giving to the poor.
Pss.41
[1] Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
[2] The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
[3] The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness
Today being the day before Thanksgiving, I was especially thinking about the poor, including the homeless people God loves so much.
I recalled this scripture above and am still meditating on these promises of God to us when we do consider the poor.
Just an outline of God's benefits to us for even considering the Poor
_______________________
l. God will deliver us in time of our own trouble
2. God will keep us alive and bless in this life
3. God will not allow us to be delivered into the hands of our enemies
4. God will 'make our bed' for us when we are sick!

There are so many more scriptures on God's blessings to us as we do help the poor when they cross our pathways. I believe sometimes it is because God wants to bless us...so he sends someone to give us
opportunity to give and to remind us of those less fortunate.

So many and so powerful blessings from God, just for considering the poor!!!! He doesn't even mention here in the above scripture the wonderful blessings we receive in our hearts just because we know we are being obedient to God.

I was recently on a forum where several were talking about the homeless, the poor, and prisoners. Each person (claiming to be Christians) had some reason he/she did not want to have anything to do with these people. One said she didn't want to be 'around anyone' who had committed a crime. Another said he couldn't stand the sight of the homeless as they were dirty, ragged, etc, and so it went on and on. Considering it was the people who were making these comments I was stunned beyond belief. I have seen and read a lot of bizarre things from bizarre behavior people on these forums, but that was a first for me.

It's fun to do what God tells us to do and read again! These are HUGE blessings...just for considering the poor. The warmth we receive within our own hearts far outweighs the gifts we give to the poor in need.
